My Mission

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be
This is my teaching mission
Teaching is a gift that one pass to another
everyone is created equal
we all come from different backgrounds but we all share a common goal that is to be the best we can be

INTRODUCTION:

Reading books is fun; they contain interesting story lines and cool pictures. But do you know all the work that is put into producing a book? Well you will! For this task you will have to come up with a story line and include pictures in a book that you will create and present to the class!

TASK:

You will get in groups of five and come up with an interesting story line. After the book is written, your group will then go out and take pictures that relate to your story. You will combine your story and pictures and form a book out of this and present it to the class.

PROCESS:

Day 1:
Get in groups of 6’s.
Brainstorm and decide on a story line.
Create your characters.

Day 2:
Start on the first draft of your book.
Make copies of your first draft. Everyone in the group should have their own copy.
Take the copy home and make any necessary changes.

Day 3:
Edit your first draft by combining everyone’s changes.
Rewrite your first draft (this is your final draft), on construction paper. Be sure to leave room for pictures!
Don’t forget to the cover! And make sure that it includes the title and authors!

Day 4:
With the digital camera that has been provided by me, you and your group will now start taking pictures as it relates to your story.
Upload the pictures onto the computer and print them out.
Paste your pictures in your book as it relates to your story.

Day 5:
Decide and practice how you would like to present your story to the class for 20 minutes.
